Zia Rasheed, Pakistan’s tallest man, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 30 in Vehari after a prolonged illness. His funeral prayer was attended by a significant number of people, including influential social and political figures.
Rasheed gained fame at the age of 15 for being Pakistan’s tallest man. However, he faced challenges due to a knee-related illness that began at 20, which worsened over time without adequate treatment or government assistance, according to Geo News.
Last year, a fall exacerbated his condition, leading to his passing today after battling the illness. In a December 2018 interview with APP, Rasheed mentioned undergoing taekwondo training for fitness and self-defense, highlighting his height of eight feet and three inches, claiming to be the world’s second tallest man.
Despite his physical stature and achievements, Rasheed expressed aspirations beyond his height, mentioning his education up to matriculation and a desire to continue studying, despite financial and logistical hurdles.
Throughout his life, Rasheed advocated for government support to improve his quality of life, emphasizing the challenges faced due to his condition. His passing marks the end of a life defined by both extraordinary height and the struggle against illness and adversity.
