Pakistan Railways has announced the reinstatement of the Sir Syed Express, which will resume its journey between Karachi Cantonment and Rawalpindi starting September 1.
This revival is expected to enhance connectivity between these major cities and provide passengers with a reliable travel option.
In conjunction with this service restoration, Pakistan Railways has introduced a substantial fare reduction for all passenger classes, effective from August 3. The new fare structure includes significant cuts for AC class tickets, with reductions ranging from Rs100 to Rs150. This move aims to provide considerable savings for travelers in higher classes.
Additionally, economy class fares have been reduced by Rs50, making train travel more affordable for a wider segment of the population.
This comprehensive fare adjustment will apply to all passenger trains operating across the country. The goal is to encourage increased use of railway services and alleviate the financial burden on regular commuters. By making travel more cost-effective, Pakistan Railways hopes to boost passenger numbers and improve overall service utilization.
A spokesperson for Pakistan Railways stated, “The decision to lower fares is part of our ongoing effort to make train travel more accessible and affordable for everyone. We anticipate that this initiative will not only benefit our passengers but also enhance the overall usage of our rail services.”
Passengers are urged to take advantage of the reduced rates starting August 3 for their travel plans. This fare reduction and the reinstatement of the Sir Syed Express mark significant steps in Pakistan Railways’ efforts to improve service and affordability for its customers.
