The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has scheduled the National Registration Examination Step 2 clinical skills examination to occur in two sessions: July 20-21 and July 27-28.
This examination is pivotal in evaluating the clinical skills and competencies of medical graduates, ensuring they adhere to the requisite standards for professional practice. The NRE Step 2 CSE is characterized by its focus on practical assessments, which encompass crucial aspects such as patient interactions, clinical procedures, and the application of decision-making processes in real-world medical scenarios.
Structured objectively, this clinical examination mandates that candidates successfully pass both the theoretical and CSE components independently. The CSE session itself spans three hours and 30 minutes, encompassing a comprehensive set of 20 stations distributed across diverse medical disciplines. These include but are not limited to medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, and ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat).
Successful completion of the NRE Step 2 CSE requires candidates to achieve a minimum pass rate of 60% in both the theoretical and practical components, ensuring they demonstrate competence across various clinical contexts.
Highlighting the exam’s significance, PMDC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj underscored its critical role in enabling foreign graduates holding Pakistani nationality to register with PMDC, facilitating their entry into the national healthcare system.
Dr. Taj also emphasized the broader impact of PMDC’s initiatives, noting significant advancements in medical and dental education, enhanced professionalism among practitioners, and improved patient care standards nationwide.
The NRE Step 2 CSE thus stands as a pivotal milestone in the professional journey of medical graduates, ensuring they possess the requisite clinical acumen and competence to contribute effectively to Pakistan’s healthcare landscape.
