Gwadar Port Access
Pakistan and Turkmenistan are on the verge of finalizing a significant agreement that will grant Turkmenistan access to Gwadar Port. This deal marks the first time a Central Asian country will gain entry to Gwadar under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
To facilitate this historic agreement, the Pakistani government has established a special committee to review the draft agreement between Gwadar Port and Turkmenbashi Port.
CPEC, which is a pivotal component of Pakistan’s economic strategy, is central to the country’s ongoing development. This corridor not only connects Pakistan with China but also serves as a conduit for broader regional cooperation.
The corridor’s projects include key initiatives such as the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline, which aims to enhance energy security and regional connectivity, as well as railway infrastructure and fiber optic networks intended to link South Asia with Central Asia.
In a recent cabinet meeting, the Pakistani government took another major step by forming a committee to evaluate the potential for allocating 50% of public sector imports through Gwadar Port.
This move reflects the government’s commitment to leveraging Gwadar as a central hub for trade and economic activities.
The successful implementation of CPEC projects is expected to yield significant benefits for Pakistan.
The government, with robust support from various institutions, political forces, and the people of Balochistan, remains dedicated to ensuring the positive outcomes of this strategic initiative.
Balochistan, home to a dedicated and industrious population, plays a crucial role in the socio-economic advancement of Pakistan.
CPEC is viewed as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s future, offering immense potential for social and economic development.
The agreement with Turkmenistan not only underscores the importance of Gwadar Port but also highlights Pakistan’s strategic positioning as a key player in regional trade and economic cooperation.
