ISLAMABAD: Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko is scheduled to visit Pakistan on November 25, marking a pivotal moment in strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
The visit, reported on Sunday citing diplomatic sources, is aimed at fostering collaboration across various sectors and exploring new opportunities for partnership.
During his stay in Pakistan, President Lukashenko is expected to meet key leaders, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and top military officials.
Discussions will focus on enhancing trade ties, strengthening the security and defense relationship, and expanding cooperation in agricultural and industrial sectors.
A significant highlight of the visit will be the signing of the Pakistan-Belarus Trade Roadmap, which is anticipated to chart a path for boosting bilateral commerce and economic engagement.
Agriculture is expected to be a focal point of discussions, with Pakistan expressing a strong interest in Belarus’s expertise in tractor manufacturing and modern farming equipment.
This collaboration aligns with Pakistan’s efforts to modernize its agricultural practices and bolster productivity. Both sides are also keen to explore avenues for technological and industrial partnerships that can drive mutual economic growth.
In addition to economic cooperation, security and defense ties will feature prominently in the talks. Earlier, on October 25, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir met with Belarus Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko to discuss enhancing bilateral security cooperation.
The discussions emphasized matters of mutual interest and regional issues, with General Munir lauding Belarus’s contributions to regional and global peace.
The visit is expected to result in several agreements aimed at fostering collaboration across multiple sectors, including trade, defense, and agriculture.
These agreements will pave the way for stronger strategic and economic ties between the two nations.
Seen as a significant step in enhancing relations, President Lukashenko’s visit underscores the shared commitment of Pakistan and Belarus to building a robust and mutually beneficial partnership.
