ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a limited-time campaign to simplify and encourage the renewal of expired or lost chipless Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs). The move is part of a broader effort to transition citizens to modern ID cards featuring enhanced security and digital capabilities.
According to a public notice issued by NADRA, citizens can now upgrade their chipless CNICs at discounted rates. This special offer applies to all CNIC-related services, including renewals, replacements for lost cards, and updates to personal details.
Revised Fee Structure and Processing Timelines:
- Normal Service: Rs 400 – Processed within 15 working days
- Urgent Service: Rs 1,150 – Processed within 12 working days
- Executive Service: Rs 2,150 – Processed within 6 working days
Applications can be submitted at any NADRA Registration Centre (NRC) or online via the Pak Identity portal, allowing users to receive their upgraded CNICs at their doorstep.
While the new CNICs remain chipless, they come with several digital improvements, including QR codes and bilingual data in Urdu and English, ensuring compatibility with official documents like passports and banking records.
NADRA has also introduced lifetime validity options for specific groups, such as organ donors and individuals with disabilities, under this upgrade campaign.
The authority urges citizens to act promptly and take advantage of this limited-time offer to ensure their identity documents remain secure and up-to-date.
Meanwhile, NADRA has also announced a significant reduction in the CNIC delivery timeline. The standard delivery period has been cut in half—from 30 days to just 15 days. Additionally, improvements have been made to the issuance of family registration certificates, aiming to streamline services and improve user convenience.
