Lahore
In Lahore, the primary procession began at Pando Street in Islampura, proceeding to Khaima-e-Sadaat, and then returning to Pando Street. According to the police, a total of 79 processions are taking place in the city on Tuesday. The Lahore police have deployed over 11,000 personnel to secure these events and have closed the procession routes to general traffic.
Islamabad
In Islamabad, the main procession is set to depart from G-6 Imambargah, following its traditional route to the destination. Authorities have implemented strict security measures, including blocking streets and roads leading to the procession route with containers and barbed wire. Additionally, mobile phone services have been suspended in various areas to enhance security.
Karachi
In Karachi, the 9th Muharram procession will start from Nishtar Park at noon. Over 4,200 police personnel, supported by Rangers, are deployed for security. Sharpshooters are positioned on high-rise buildings, markets along the procession routes are sealed, and 120 streets are blocked with containers. There is also a ban on pillion riding, and mobile phone services along the procession routes remain suspended. The procession will conclude at Hussainia Iranian.
Quetta
In Quetta, the 9th Muharram procession will depart from Imambargah Nasirulaza at 2 pm, following traditional routes and returning to the same location. Comprehensive security measures have been implemented, and mobile phone services in the city are suspended to prevent any untoward incidents.
Bahawalpur
In Bahawalpur, 30 processions and 77 majalis have been planned for the 9th of Muharram. Tight security arrangements involve more than 3,200 security personnel and over 1,600 volunteers. The Dolphin Squad, Eagle Squad, Elite Force, and Special Branch are also on duty. Barbed wire and walk-through gates are installed at procession entrances, and CCTV cameras monitor the routes.
Dera Ismail Khan
The main procession in Dera Ismail Khan commenced from the historic Imambargah Bammu Shah, proceeding through traditional routes and culminating at Imam Imambargah Lato Faqir. Foolproof security arrangements are in place along the procession routes, with mobile phone services suspended for added security.
