Lahore – An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore on Thursday rejected the bail petitions of senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi, along with former Punjab Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema and ex-minister Mian Mahmood ur Rasheed, in connection with the May 9 arson and vandalism case.
ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul delivered the verdict after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and defense. The bail applications were tied to a case registered at the Sarwar Road police station concerning an incident of arson outside Rahat Bakery during the violent protests that erupted following the arrest of PTI’s founding chairman on May 9.
The court’s decision marks a key development in the ongoing legal actions stemming from the unrest, which led to widespread damage to public and private property across the country.
