Maryam Nawaz to inaugurate ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ programme on Aug 14

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is set to launch the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ program on August 14, having approved three different models for the initiative. During a meeting in Lahore on Sunday, she directed officials to halt any service charges for plot owners. The program features model houses developed as part of its pilot phase.

Maryam Nawaz also instructed that living rooms be included in the model house designs and that toll-free numbers be introduced for public convenience. The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) will create a dedicated portal for the program, allowing applicants to submit their applications online.

Housing Secretary Captain (retd) Asadullah Khan mentioned that program forms can be collected from the offices of deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners. Plot owners with plots of up to five marlas will be eligible for interest-free loans to construct their homes, with the option to repay the loans in easy installments. Additionally, allottees of the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) under the PHATA Ordinance 2002 can acquire 3- and 5-marla houses in private schemes.

Under the program, PHATA allottees will have five years to pay off their house installments after purchasing a property in a private scheme. The Punjab government will also provide subsidies to lower housing costs in these private schemes. Approximately 70,000 plot owners in cities or villages will be able to access these loans, and owners of up to 5-marla plots will benefit from interest-free loans for home construction. Key decisions for the program were approved at the meeting led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
