Lt. General Muhammad Ali has been appointed as new defense secretary

On Friday, the government of Pakistan appointed Lieutenant General Muhammad Ali as the new Secretary of Defence.

His term is set to last for two years and three months, concluding on December 31, 2026, coinciding with his retirement.

Currently, Lt. General Ali serves as the Quartermaster General at the General Headquarters, where he oversees logistical and supply chain operations crucial for military readiness. His extensive experience and leadership qualities have been recognized with various accolades, including the prestigious Hilal-e-Imtiaz, an honor awarded for exceptional service.

The official notification regarding his appointment was released on Friday, marking a significant step in the administration’s efforts to strengthen defense management.

Lt. General Ali’s extensive military background equips him with the necessary skills to navigate the complexities of national defense and contribute to strategic planning during his tenure.

As he transitions into this key role, Lt. General Ali will be responsible for overseeing Pakistan’s defense policies and ensuring the effective functioning of the armed forces.
