Lieutenant General Akhtar Nawaz Satti Appointed Chairman of FPSC

The federal government has appointed Lieutenant General Akhtar Nawaz Satti as the new Chairman of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC). The appointment follows the approval of President Asif Ali Zardari, based on the recommendation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Establishment Division has issued a notification confirming the appointment.

The position of FPSC Chairman has been vacant since August 2023, causing delays in the Central Selection Board’s meetings.

Lieutenant General Satti, who is currently leading the II Corps—a key field corps of the Pakistan Army based in Multan Cantonment—brings extensive military experience to the role. The II Corps has played a significant role in various military operations, including engagements with the Indian Army in 1971 and during the Afghan war to bolster national defenses.

About FPSC:

The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) is a constitutional body established under Article 242 of the 1973 Constitution of Pakistan. The FPSC operates according to the FPSC Function Rules 1978.
