MURREE : Continuous heavy rainfall in Murree has triggered landslides near the Salgirah area, causing major disruptions to traffic on the G.T. Road, officials confirmed on Thursday.
According to sources, over 50mm of rain was recorded in the past 24 hours by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). The persistent downpour has severely affected daily life in the hilly district.
Traffic Disrupted, Alternate Route Suggested
The landsliding incident near Salgirah blocked the main G.T. Road, prompting traffic police to advise commuters to use the Murree Expressway as an alternate route. Rescue teams have been dispatched and are currently working to clear debris and restore traffic flow.
Officials stated that landslides were also reported in other areas of Murree, although no casualties or injuries have been reported so far.
Rain Continues, Residents Urged to Stay Cautious
Local authorities have urged residents and travelers to remain cautious and stay updated on weather alerts as further rainfall may increase the risk of landslides and road blockages in vulnerable areas.
