Twitter is flooded with the video and hilarious memes of a female student proposing to her university mate within the University of Lahore premises.
In the video footage, a woman is proposing to her university mate with her right knee bent and a bouquet of roses in her hand. The man hugs her afterward.
The unusual and bold move by the woman to initiate the proposal drew a large crowd that applauded and cheered the couple on, amid the movie-like scene.
Despite all the love in the air of Lahore university premises, the proposal did not sit well with the management of the University of Lahore.
The varsity issued a letter on Friday in which it said the disciplinary committee has decided to expel the students.
“A meeting of the Special Disciplinary Committee was held on 12-3-2021 at 10:30 am in the Office of the Rector.”
Reads the notification.
It said that the two students “were involved in gross misconduct and violation of University rules”, adding that they were summoned before the committee but “failed to appear”.
The order further stated that in pursuance of Section 9 of the General Discipline and Code of Conduct on the Campus, the committee has decided to expel the two students for violating the varsity’s rules and regulations and “serious infraction of the code of conduct”.
“Furthermore, as per Section 16 […] they are debarred from entering the premises of the University of Lahore and all its sub-campuses.”
Ignoring the unkind or inflammatory reactions on Twitter, here is one of the most chuckle-inducing posts from the incident.
In a nod to the “pawri hori hai” meme, one wrote: “Ye me hun, ye meri GF hai aur yeh hum expel ho rahe hain (This is me, this is my girlfriend, and this is us getting expelled).”
