Lahore High Court dismisses petition seeking ban on aurat march

LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: The Lahore High Court has dismissed a petition aimed at halting this year’s Aurat March. Justice Shahid Kareem delivered the verdict on Monday, stating that the petition, lodged by a citizen named Azam Butt, lacked legal grounds.

The petitioner contended that the slogans and symbols exhibited during the Aurat March were incompatible with Islamic values and urged the court to prohibit the event.

Butt argued that any group feeling deprived of its rights should seek redress through legal channels.

Additionally, the petition asserted that the march could jeopardize public order, as it had allegedly done in the past.

Lahore’s deputy commissioner and other government officials were named respondents in the petition.

The Aurat March, observed annually on March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day, will continue this year.

The theme for the Lahore march is “Siyasat, Muzahimat aur Azadi” (Politics, Resistance, and Freedom), emphasizing the call for broader and more inclusive political participation.

Meanwhile, in 2023 Aurat March, the women participants have displayed some disgusting, indecent, un-Islamic, and annoying banners.

After seeing the placards and indecent banners, on cannot believe that Pakistan is an Islamic Republic.

Expression of freedom is the right of every citizen, but using shameful, disgusting and annoying words and language, we don’t use at homes, in offices and public place, is very disturbing.

Here is one more disturbing picture with banner.

Below are more glimpses of Aurat March, held in Pakistan on March 8, in connection with the International Women Day.

Every year, rallies are organized across Pakistan under the banner of Aurat March. Every decent person upholds the dignity of women in our society, but using vulgar banners, slogans, and placards in the name of Aurat March badly tarnishes the image of those who use this day to highlight vulgarity.
