Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has opted to revive the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Security Architecture (KPISA) to foster collaboration among intelligence agencies in combating activities that support terrorism.
This decision was made during a meeting of the provincial Apex Committee, which featured the participation of both civil and military officials, including Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant General Hasan Azhar Hayat and Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry. The Caretaker Chief Minister presided over the meeting, which addressed key issues related to the implementation of the National Action Plan.
The meeting yielded a unanimous decision to take stringent measures against criminal activities that aid terrorism. These measures encompass the strict enforcement of regulations concerning unauthorized mobile SIM cards, explosives, extortion, referrals, unauthorized firearms, smuggling, counterfeit documents, and drug-related offenses. Federal, provincial, and intelligence organizations will collaborate closely to combat these illicit operations.

The gathering also resolved to compile data on Afghan nationals currently residing in the province without legal authorization. Additionally, discussions took place regarding matters related to the registration of Non-Customs Paid (NCP) vehicles and madrasas, leading to significant policy decisions.
The meeting evaluated the performance of the Provincial Security Secretariat in implementing the National Action Plan, with participants expressing satisfaction with the progress thus far. The meeting emphasized the significance of coordinated efforts between federal and provincial institutions.
Efforts to Combat Illegal Activities and Boost Security
The authorities agreed on various steps to enhance coordination at the district level and advance the implementation of the National Action Plan. These included tightening regulations for those involved in the handicraft business and simplifying banking transactions. The Prime Minister will address matters related to federal departments and institutions involved in the prevention of illegal activities in an upcoming special meeting.
Authorities outlined efforts to address the issue of illegal arms by registering and auditing arms manufacturing facilities in the province. The aim is to combat drug distribution within educational institutions by improving border management through the establishment of joint checkposts to deter smuggling.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister expressed concern about the alarming increase in drug use among the youth and called for special measures against drug manufacturers and suppliers. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) will also focus on combating extortionists.
