Khan Announces Rawalpindi Rally to Transform into Protest

Imran Khan, founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, announced that the party’s planned rally in Rawalpindi on September 28 will now be a protest. Speaking informally to journalists from Adiala Jail, Khan explained that both the administration and the courts have denied permission for the rally. He confirmed that PTI is withdrawing its application to the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench.

Khan firmly ruled out any dialogue with the establishment, stating, “There’s no benefit in any kind of negotiations.” He dismissed comments from PTI leader Raoof Hassan suggesting otherwise, asserting that Hassan had misunderstood the situation. Khan reiterated his previous stance, made clear after the September 8 rally, that the party would not engage in negotiations.

He accused the establishment of acting deceptively, saying, “They show you the right hand while striking with the left.” Khan instructed all party leaders, including Ali Amin Gandapur, to refrain from negotiating with the establishment. He emphasized that the September 28 event in Rawalpindi would be a full-scale protest, not just a rally. Additionally, he announced that PTI lawyers would also be staging a protest outside the Supreme Court.

On the topic of the Chief Justice appointment, Khan clarified that his mention of Justice Mansoor Ali Shah was based purely on seniority and in line with constitutional requirements. He urged the government to issue the appointment notification within the coming month.
