Karachi’s COVID Positive Cases rise over 22%

1,648 people found COVID infected in the entire Sindh after 13,219 tests got conducted in the last 24 hours.

KARACHI: The Covid-19 case positivity rate continues to rise in Karachi, where 1,405 more people tested positive on Wednesday, according to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, who also stated that 1,648 people were found to be infected with coronavirus in the entire province after 13,219 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.
While presenting the daily Covid-19 status update, the chief minister stated that they recorded no death because of complications of the contagious virus from any region of Sindh in the recent 24 hours, adding that the death toll stood at 7,691 as of last Tuesday.

Murad Ali Shah stated that 13,219 samples were tested, which resulted in the detection of 1,648 cases, accounting for 12.5 percent of the current detection rate. He also stated that so far, 7,295,420 tests have been conducted, against which 490,285 cases have been diagnosed, with 95.7 percent or 469,353 patients recovering, including 145 overnight.

According to the CM, 13,241 people are now being treated, including 12,940 in home isolation, 122 in isolation facilities, and 179 in various hospitals. He also reported that the condition of 172 people was described as serious, with 14 being placed on ventilators.

According to him, 1,405 recent cases were discovered in Karachi, including 540 in the East, 334 in the South, 228 in the Central, 111 in Malir, 101 in the West, and 91 in Korangi. Hyderabad has 85, Nausheroferoze has 24, Tando Muhammad Khan has 18, Jamshoro and Matiari have 15, Badin has 13, Tharparkar has 12, Tando Allahyar has 11, Sanghar and Thatta have 8, Larkana and Umerkot have 5, Mirpurkhas and Shaheed Benazirabad have 4, Ghotki has 3, Sukkur has 2, Dadu, Khairpur and Shikarpur have one each.

The CM shared vaccination data, saying that 30,929,612 vaccine doses were delivered up to January 10th, and that 191,729 persons were vaccinated in the past 24 hours; a total of 31,121,341 vaccine doses were administered.
