Karachi Residents Face Power Tariff Hike of Rs5.75

Regulatory Authority Confirms Price Hike Will Affect All Lifeline Customers

On Wednesday, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) approved a substantial increase of Rs5.75 per unit in electricity rates for K-Electric consumers. This adjustment is attributed to the monthly fuel price adjustment (FPA) for May.

The increase breaks down to Rs2.59 per unit for May and an additional Rs3.16 per unit for June. These adjustments will be reflected in electricity bills for October and November.

Nepra has confirmed that this rate hike will impact all consumers, including lifeline customers and those using electric vehicles, affecting a broad spectrum of the city’s population. The authority emphasized that these changes are necessary to address fluctuations in fuel costs used for power generation.
