The US Consulate in Karachi has initiated legal action against Sheikh Muhammad Huzaifa for allegedly orchestrating a fraudulent scheme involving fake US visas for employment purposes.
The Federal Investigation Agency Cybercrime Circle intervened after receiving a formal complaint from the consulate, detailing Huzaifa’s deceitful activities targeting his childhood friends.
According to the complaint, Huzaifa misrepresented himself as an employee of a US-based company and convinced his friends, Moazzam and Muhammad Mueez, to transfer Rs1.5 million under the guise of securing employment opportunities in the United States. He utilized fake emails impersonating a prominent food chain’s owner to bolster his credibility.
Huzaifa further exploited their trust by obtaining their passports and subsequently forwarded counterfeit US visas via WhatsApp. He assured them of imminent interview calls from the US Consulate in Karachi.
However, suspicion arose when the anticipated communication failed to materialize, prompting Moazzam and Mueez to independently visit the consulate.
Upon investigation, the US Consulate confirmed the visas and associated emails as fraudulent, prompting swift action by the FIA Cybercrime Circle. It was discovered that after the victims returned to Pakistan, Huzaifa ceased all contact and disappeared.
Responding to the consulate’s complaint, the FIA initiated legal proceedings against Huzaifa and commenced efforts to locate and apprehend him. The agency aims not only to hold Huzaifa accountable but also to prevent future occurrences of similar fraudulent activities targeting individuals seeking overseas employment opportunities.
This case underscores the importance of vigilance and due diligence in verifying employment offers and visa documentation, emphasizing the potential risks associated with fraudulent schemes in the realm of international job placements.
