Justice Aurangzeb states that the solitary confinement of Bushra Bibi is considered “torture”

On Monday, Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb commented that Bushra Bibi is being held in solitary confinement, which he considers a form of torture.

The Islamabad High Court has recommenced the proceedings concerning the petition to relocate Bushra Bibi, the spouse of PTI founder Imran Khan, from her current residence in Bani Gala to Adiala Prison.

Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb presided over the case of Bushra Bibi. Lawyers Usman Riaz Gul and Khalid Yusuf Chaudhry represented the former first lady in the court.

The court instructed Bushra Bibi’s legal representatives to prepare and present their written arguments at the upcoming session. The judges expressed their desire to expedite the case and prevent any further delays.

The legal representative for the State requested a week’s extension from the court. Granted the State Counsel’s plea for additional time, the Islamabad High Court postponed the case’s proceedings until the upcoming week.

Previously, the State counsel argued that they are examining the possibility of any unlawful actions concerning the prison.

Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb inquired about the authority of the Chief Commissioner to claim himself as a representative of the provincial government. He further mentioned that Bushra is being subjected to solitary confinement, which constitutes a form of torture.

The court announced that within this case, one writ and six additional miscellaneous applications have been presented.

Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb addressed the State Council, stating that there is no valid basis for their current stance.

The court inquired whether the attorneys wished to proceed with the relocation of Bushra Bibi from Bani Gala to Adiala Jail. Lawyer Usman Riaz Gul affirmed, stating that they indeed sought to transfer Bushra Bibi to Adiala Jail.
