Former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan has accused the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Army Chief General Asim Munir of being responsible for his safety, alleging harsh conditions in Adiala Jail. He claims he is being held in a room with oven-like conditions.
Speaking to the media following a hearing in the £190 million case, Khan expressed frustration over his lack of contact with the establishment, stating that any future communications will be made in the interest of the country and the law. He criticized the current administration, saying, “Only sheep are controlled by sticks, not humans. The country needs strong institutions. What they are doing is suicide.”
Khan voiced concerns about the conditions of his confinement, describing his cell as “like an oven” and reporting excessive scrutiny. “The room where I am kept is like an oven, but despite this, I don’t want any relief,” he said.
Khan also took aim at Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, accusing him of being a “crony” who has damaged the sport. He alleged Naqvi’s involvement in the wheat scandal and claimed he owns a $5 million property in Dubai registered under his wife’s name. Khan questioned Naqvi’s qualifications and pointed to his involvement in a 2008 corruption case.
Emphasizing cricket’s significance in Pakistan, Khan criticized the current team’s performance, attributing the decline to nepotism and favoritism since Naqvi’s appointment, despite a previous victory over India.
Additionally, Khan expressed concern over his wife Bushra Bibi’s living conditions, reporting that her room is infested with rats and requesting a resolution from the court.
