Imran Khan defends the protests in cantonment areas but disassociates himself from the acts of vandalism

LAHORE: Imran Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), appeared before a joint investigation team (JIT) and provided a defense for the protests carried out by his supporters within the cantonment areas.

According to sources, the former Prime Minister was questioned by a six-member panel consisting of a DIG, SSP, and four SPs for an hour at the DIG Investigation headquarters. The interrogation focuse on his alleges involvement in the attacks on the Corps Commander House (Jinnah House) and other military installations in the city.

The JIT members reportedly assure Imran Khan that they would only ask professional questions. When questioned about whether the events of May 9 were planned or coincidental, the PTI leader claims it was a conspiracy against him and his party, stating that he had no involvement and the planning took place elsewhere.

The JIT also inquired about why PTI supporters protested within cantonment areas.

 In response, Imran Khan stated that people felt compelled to go there because he was arrested by a commander. The panel further questioned him about evidence suggesting that he had incited and issued orders to the protesters.

According to sources, the Chairman of the PTI, Imran Khan, rejected the allegation that he had incited the protests and maintained that the protesters had acted independently and voluntarily.

Describing the events of that day as a conspiracy, Imran Khan denied any knowledge of the individuals shown in the videos and pictures presents by the JIT related to the May 9 incidents, stating that they were not affiliated with his party.

In a warning tone, Khan reportedly caution the JIT members about the consequences they would face for their actions against his party, expressing his intention to make a comeback and hold them accountable.
