Safety Audit
KARACHI: A team from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has commenced a comprehensive safety audit of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Pakistan.
According to sources, this audit, which began today, aims to scrutinize various facets of the CAA’s operations, including flight standards, licensing, aeromedical services, aerospace management, and airport safety protocols.
The ICAO team’s mandate includes an in-depth review of the CAA’s critical departments.
They will assess flight safety measures, licensing processes, and aeromedical procedures, ensuring that all aspects meet international safety and operational standards. This audit is expected to be thorough and is scheduled to conclude on June 13.
Earlier in the year, on April 29, the CAA of Karachi achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) 2023 goals.
This achievement highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to aviation safety and security. The CAA not only met but exceeded the ICAO’s 2023 objectives and is well on its way to achieving the ICAO’s 2030 benchmarks.
The earlier audit conducted by ICAO lasted ten days, focusing on critical elements of aviation security. This included a six-day examination at the CAA headquarters and a four-day inspection at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.
The audit encompassed various crucial aspects such as aviation security, FIA immigration procedures, passport issuance mechanisms, airport security protocols, passenger screening procedures, entry control systems, cargo handling processes, perimeter security, and comprehensive aviation auditing processes.
Pakistan’s success in meeting and surpassing the ICAO 2023 goals demonstrates the country’s unwavering commitment to enhancing its aviation security standards.
This commitment is seen as a proactive step towards ensuring that the country’s aviation sector aligns with global safety and security protocols.
The ongoing ICAO safety audit is expected to further validate and enhance the CAA’s operational standards. By reviewing and assessing the current protocols, the ICAO team aims to ensure that the CAA’s procedures are not only compliant with international standards but are also capable of addressing future challenges in the aviation sector.
In summary, the ICAO’s current audit of the Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan underscores the continuous efforts to improve aviation safety and security in the country.
The CAA’s recent achievements and its ongoing initiatives reflect a robust framework aimed at maintaining and enhancing aviation standards, ensuring the safety and security of all stakeholders in Pakistan’s aviation industry.
