Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, has announced plans for a long march towards Islamabad and a nationwide wheel jam strike, criticizing the government for its failure to implement the Rawalpindi Agreement. Protests are scheduled for September 29 along major highways across the country.
During an online emergency meeting with central and provincial leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafiz Naeem revealed that a public referendum will take place from October 23 to 27. Afterward, they will consider options for both a wheel jam strike and the long march to Islamabad.
He condemned the government for misrepresenting the situation to the media and the public, asserting that only superficial measures have been taken over the past 45 days. Hafiz Naeem urged the government to abandon its luxuries and privileges, calling for immediate relief for citizens regarding electricity bills. He emphasized the need for a uniform tariff based on the actual cost of electricity production nationwide.
