ISLAMABAD: The federal government gave approval for the deputation of Punjab Inspector General of Police Faisal Shahkar as an advisor to the United Nations.
Faisal Shahkar will now serve the United Nations for two years in New York, advising them on policing matters. Shahkar is scheduled to retire in Dec 2024.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif gave approval for international deputation of Faisal Shahkar.
According to a federal government’s notification, Shahkar is being deputed in the Police Division, Office of Rule of Law and Security Institution, Department of Peace Operations at the UN Headquarters in New York.
Shahkar is working in grade 22 and his appointment was approved till his retirement on Dec 29, 2024
Faisal Shahkar, who was earlier working as IG Punjab, sought his transfer from the province because of center-Punjab tug of war over policing matters.
