The SSP emphasized that facial visibility is critical for identification and preventing security risks.
In Faisalabad, female police officials are now prohibited from wearing niqabs, burqas, or gowns over their uniforms while on duty, as per a directive from the senior superintendent of police operations.
This directive, part of uniform standard operating procedures (SOPs) for women police personnel, mandates that female officers must maintain visible faces at all times during duty hours.
SSP (Operations) Hasan Javed highlighted the importance of facial visibility for identification and security purposes, stating that veiled faces hinder identification and could facilitate terrorist disguises.
He emphasized the necessity for female officers to be easily identifiable to mitigate potential security threats. This directive underscores concerns regarding security risks associated with face coverings and aims to ensure proper identification of female officers throughout their duty hours in Faisalabad.
Station House Officer (SHO) Madiha Irshad confirmed receipt of the orders and assured immediate implementation.
“Orders have been received to keep faces visible, and we are enforcing this directive without delay,” she affirmed.
The directive, grounded in security concerns, aims to prevent face coverings from posing potential security threats.
Officials stress that the visibility of female officers’ faces is crucial for security maintenance and proper identification at all times.
