The poet’s brother confirms that Ahmed Farhad’s condition is stable following their meeting at Kahori police station.
Muzaffarabad: Following the disclosure to the Islamabad High Court regarding the location of the missing Kashmiri poet Ahmed Farhad, his family had a meeting with him on Wednesday at a police station in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier in the day, Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan informed Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of the IHC that the poet had been “arrested and is presently in police custody” in AJK.
The AGP provided this information during the hearing of a petition aimed at securing the poet’s recovery.
Urooj Zainab, the wife of Farhad, who petitioned the IHC on May 15, pleaded for her husband’s safe return and urged the court to uncover, probe, and prosecute those accountable for his vanishing.
After the court session, the family of the vanished poet reunited with Farhad at the Kahori police station located on the outskirts of Muzaffarabad.
After the reunion, the brother of the disappeared poet informed reporters that Farhad’s condition was stable, and they were prepared to pursue a legal course of action in AJK.
This development followed the family’s grievances regarding the lack of cooperation from AJK police, who refused to disclose the whereabouts of the missing poet.
Farhad, recognized for his outspoken writings, was purportedly taken from his residence on May 14.
