PESHAWAR/ISLAMABAD: Armed men assassinated Latif Afridi, former President of Supreme Court Bar Association in Peshawar on Monday.
Afridi was present in the Peshawar high court bar room when unknown armed men started indiscriminate firing on him and injured his seriously.
Latif Afridi was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
According to initial reports, six bullets hit the former president of Supreme Court Bar Association. He was shifted to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, where doctors declared him dead.
Afridi was a respected and a senior lawyer and a leader of his fraternity.
Peshawar police have arrested the killer of Latif Afridi. Police, however, did not disclose the identity of the alleged killer to the media for security reasons.
Meanwhile, police have recovered a card from the pocket of the alleged killer, who claims to be a student of a law college.
How the killer entered the Peshawar High Court Bar Room with a weapon and what was his motive behind the assassination of Latif Afridi? Police have a probe to get details from the killer.
Peshawar Police SSP Kashif Aftab Abbasi said that police have apprehended the suspect, identified as Adnan Sami Afridi. He used a handgun to kill Latif Afridi in the bar room.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the brutal killing of a senior lawyer and said the culprits must be given exemplary punishment.
Also, former President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his anger and shock over the murder of Latif Afridi.
He said that Latif Afridi had always supported the democratic forces in the country.
