District administration seals nearly a dozen brick kilns in Haripur

HARIPUR: The Haripur district administration has taken decisive actions, including the closure of nearly a dozen brick kilns and fines for vendors selling substandard products, in separate operations. This move comes as the district administration intensifies its efforts to enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across various areas of the district.

Three of the sealed brick kilns faced legal consequences for violating high court orders and governmental policies aimed at curbing pollution. According to reports, the assistant commissioner of Khanpur carried out inspections at various stone-crushing plants. The owners of these plants were issued directives. Furthermore, the complaints from citizens were also addressed in the locations.

Moreover, a surprise inspection was conducted at the sub-registrar office in Khanpur to assess public services, with appropriate instructions given. The assistant commissioner and a supervisor from the livestock department jointly examined milk samples at 14 shops. More than 320 liters of hazardous adulterated milk, with excessive water, were destroyed following an inspection. Legal actions were taken against five shops, and multiple milk sellers were arrested for contaminating the milk supply.

In another initiative, the district administration examined passenger boats operating near the Afghan refugee camp in Tarbela Lake. Boat owners were urged to prioritize safety measures, while fishermen were cautioned about potential water level increases during rainy periods.

Haripur’s Deputy Commissioner Aun Haider Gondal, along with representatives from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IT Board, visited the Haripur Tehsil Office to discuss the digitization of records related to Haripur General Mohafiz Khana. Following the discussion, a meeting was held to address the matter and provide relevant directives.

Additionally, the deputy commissioner rewarded revenue officers who achieved a 100% collection of government dues, demonstrating outstanding performance. An event was organized, attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Director Database, and Additional Assistant Commissioner Revenue.
