Dania Shah released on bail in Dr. Aamir Liaquat’s video leak case

KARACHI/ISLAMABAD: Sindh High Court granted bail to Dania Shah, third wife of late MNA Dr. Aamir Liaquat, Dania Shah.

The court announced its reserved verdict today, paving the way for the
release of Dania Shah.

Earlier, a district and sessions court of Karachi turned down her bail.
Resultantly, Dania Shah filed a plea in the Sindh High Court, seeking bail.

She pleaded that there was no evidence against her for the leaked video.
Therefore, the court granted her bail on Tuesday.

The court directed her to submit Rs 200,000 surety bonds.

The cybercrime wing of the FIA detained Dania Shah, the widow of the late Dr.
Amir Liaquat in December 2022.

FIA alleged that she was involved in filming and making viral private videos
of her husband.

Bushra Iqbal, first wife of Aamir Liaquat, and her daughter filed the
complaint.

Though Dania Shah admitted in court that the relevant videos were saved on
her phone, she did not know who accessed the device and made the videos viral.

Dania Shah’s lawyer, Liaquat Gabol, pleaded in court that the
allegations against Ms. Shah are false and that the prosecution did not have any
evidence to prove them.

On January 23, a local court in Karachi rejected the bail plea of Dania
Shah, and later Gabol challenged the court’s decision in SHC.

On February 8, the arguments of the parties on the bail application of the
accused Dania Shah was completed.

Liaquat Gabol has maintained that the numbers from which the videos were
forwarded for making them viral were not Shah’s.
