ISLAMABAD: The Customs Intelligence Directorate, in a sweeping operation against smuggling and mis-invoicing nationwide, has confiscated goods valued at an astonishing Rs18.906 billion. Stringent measures implemented since September underscore the interim government’s steadfast commitment to tackling illegal trade practices.
Upon detailed analysis, it was revealed that the directorate seized goods totaling Rs14.981 billion, with contravention cases registered during the same period amounting to Rs3.925 billion.
An official announcement on Friday highlighted significant seizures across the country during this period. Punjab Customs Intelligence led with the confiscation of smuggled goods valued at Rs5.886 billion, while operations in Sindh resulted in the confiscation of contraband worth Rs5.038 billion.
In Balochistan, intelligence-based operations led to the seizure of smuggled goods amounting to Rs2.823 billion. Similarly, Customs Intelligence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa successfully intercepted illegal goods worth Rs1.234 billion.
The seized items in the operations encompassed a diverse range, including miscellaneous items valued at Rs2.904 billion, cigarettes worth Rs2.267 billion, and vehicles amounting to Rs2.057 billion. Auto parts and spares with a value of Rs2.023 billion were also confiscated.
Betel nuts worth Rs1.013 billion, along with petrol valued at Rs756 million, were seized. Fabrics and electronic goods were also part of the seizures, valued at Rs624 million and Rs604 million, respectively. Other items included gutka (Rs325 million), diesel (Rs211 million), and tyres (Rs157 million).
Pakistan, Russia agree on joint efforts against terrorism

This consensus emerged during the tenth session of the Pakistan-Russia Joint Working Group on Combating International Terrorism and Other Challenges to Security, which took place in Islamabad on November 16, as reported by the Foreign Office.
