PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has once again criticized its key ally, the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), accusing them of excluding his party from the preparation of the Budget 2024-25.
Speaking at a press conference in Quetta alongside Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, Bilawal emphasized the importance of engaging the opposition in economic matters. He lamented the lack of consultation, noting that a stronger government strategy should have included input from coalition partners.
Bilawal’s remarks followed the passage of the tax-heavy budget through the National Assembly, endorsed by the ruling alliance, including the PPP. President Asif Ali Zardari approved the Finance Bill 2024 on June 30, which took effect on July 1, marking the start of the fiscal year.
Criticism of the Rs18.877 trillion budget for FY25 has been sharp, with opposition parties denouncing it as “economic terrorism” against the people. Bilawal reaffirmed PPP’s stance, stating they advocate for their recommendations but respect the government’s decisions.
Addressing election rigging concerns, Bilawal noted historical issues and stressed the need for free and fair elections to benefit PPP. Regarding the All Parties Conference on Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, he confirmed PPP’s participation, emphasizing their stance on Balochistan’s situation and commitment to engaging all stakeholders.
Balochistan’s CM highlighted efforts to enhance law and order, with Bilawal pledging PPP’s support in uniting political forces for progress.
