Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir honored the courage and sacrifice of Pakistani soldiers who have given their lives in the battle against terrorism, emphasizing that their sacrifices reflect the unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces to protect the nation.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Munir reiterated that Pakistan remains united with its Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies in the ongoing fight against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also known as Fitna al Khawarij, and other terrorist threats.
The COAS made these remarks during the funeral prayer of Major Muhammad Haseeb Shaheed, 28, a Rawalpindi native, who was martyred while defending the nation in Harnai district, Balochistan. The ceremony took place at Chaklala Garrison in Rawalpindi and was attended by General Munir, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, along with senior civil and military officials, officers, soldiers, and the martyr’s family.
Major Haseeb had been leading an intelligence-based operation against terrorists planning an attack on civilians in Harnai. The operation led to the elimination of three terrorists, delivering a significant blow to insurgent forces in the area. However, an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated during the operation, striking the lead vehicle and resulting in the martyrdom of Major Haseeb and Havildar Noor Ahmed, 38, from District Barkhan. Both soldiers were recognized for their leadership and bravery in the field. Their ultimate sacrifice underscores the resilience of Pakistan’s Armed Forces in combating terrorism.
Despite the deadly attack, Pakistan’s security forces successfully neutralized the terrorist threat and ensured the safety of local civilians.
Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi also praised the determination of the security forces and paid tribute to the bravery of Major Haseeb and Havildar Noor Ahmed. He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs, acknowledging their immense sacrifice in the fight against terrorism.
