On Friday, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal underscored the urgent need to enhance digital literacy across the country.
Speaking in Islamabad, Iqbal highlighted the necessity of integrating internet access in schools and aligning educational content with advancements in information technology. He emphasized that a strong focus on education is crucial for the nation’s future prosperity.
Iqbal stressed that achieving a literacy rate of 90 percent is essential for driving the country towards economic and social advancement.
“We must significantly boost literacy levels to guide the nation towards a brighter future,” he asserted.
During his address, Iqbal also announced the release of the district education index report.
According to the report, schools from 124 districts have achieved an average score of 53 percent. This report, he noted, reflects the current state of educational facilities and performance across the country.
Furthermore, Iqbal mentioned that the Prime Minister has established a task force to address the educational emergency. This initiative is aimed at tackling the existing challenges in the education sector and implementing effective reforms to improve the quality of education nationwide.
Iqbal’s remarks and the release of the district education index highlight the government’s commitment to addressing educational deficiencies and promoting digital literacy as a key component of national development.
