In Lahore, Punjab Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo announced that registration for the Kisan Card is being conducted on a first-come, first-served basis, with approximately 300,000 farmers registered so far.
He chaired a meeting focused on the issuance and registration of the Punjab Chief Minister’s Kisan Card, highlighting positive outcomes from the ongoing registration process.
Sahoo reported that records for 121,000 farmers have been forwarded to the Bank of Punjab, and production of 250,000 Kisan Cards is currently underway. He urged authorities to expedite the final printing phase, aiming to achieve a registration target of an additional 200,000 farmers by August 1st.
Highlighting the card’s significance, he emphasized its mandatory requirement for accessing subsidy schemes and Agricultural Department facilities in Punjab.
Additionally, Sahoo noted advancements in mechanization to facilitate the purchase of diesel and mobil oil from PSO filling stations.
In an unrelated development, the Lahore High Court recently dismissed a petition challenging the inclusion of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s image on the Kisan Card in Punjab.
Justice Shahid Karim dismissed the plea filed by citizen Mashkoor Hussain, who argued against the use of public funds for personal publicity, mentioning CM Maryam Nawaz’s approval for the inclusion of Nawaz Sharif’s image on the cards.
