Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi chaired a meeting on Friday to review the measures for the return of Afghan citizen cardholders, ensuring full cooperation between both federal and provincial governments. The meeting focused on evaluating the progress of repatriation efforts and strategizing to ensure a smooth process.
Naqvi emphasized the importance of maintaining a respectful and supportive attitude towards foreign nationals during their return. He reassured that the repatriation process would be carried out with comprehensive collaboration between federal and provincial authorities.
The meeting revealed that all necessary preparations for the return had been completed, including house-to-house visits to inform Afghan citizen cardholders about the repatriation process. Holding centres, food, and healthcare facilities have been arranged for those returning.
Naqvi also noted that a committee had been established in response to recommendations from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur. This committee will oversee the smooth execution of the return process.
In the second phase of the program, Afghan citizen cardholders were given a deadline to voluntarily leave Pakistan by March 31, 2023.
Minister of State Talal Chaudhry will also visit provinces to address any challenges arising during the return process. “Continuous communication between the federal and provincial governments will ensure a smooth return for Afghan citizens,” Naqvi affirmed.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, Federal Secretary of Interior, and other relevant officials from concerned departments.
