Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi strongly condemned the unprovoked firing by Afghan forces on Pakistani territory and warned of a resolute response to any such aggression.
Addressing the media, Naqvi stated that targeting civilian populations constituted a blatant violation of international law. He praised the swift and effective retaliation by Pakistanโs armed forces, emphasizing that provocations against the country would not be tolerated under any circumstances. โPakistanโs forces remain vigilant and have responded decisivelyโAfghanistan received a stone for a brick,โ he remarked, highlighting the firm stance of the military along the border.
The interior minister reaffirmed that the people of Pakistan stood united like a โlead wallโ behind the armed forces, expressing full support for all measures taken to safeguard national sovereignty. He added that Pakistan would ensure a proportionate and strong response to deter future incursions, drawing parallels to the countryโs previous military actions against hostile elements in the region, including India.
Naqvi further stressed that such border violations not only threaten peace and stability but also undermine regional security. He urged Afghanistan to take immediate steps to prevent the misuse of its territory by militants targeting Pakistan.
Highlighting Islamabadโs commitment to protecting its citizens, he said Pakistanโs forces would continue to respond effectively to any threats emanating from across the border.
The minister also warned that continued aggression would be met with stronger measures, reiterating Pakistanโs readiness to defend its territorial integrity and sovereignty. โAny attempt to cast a dirty eye at Pakistan will be met with a befitting reply,โ he added, underscoring the nationโs determination to maintain security along its borders.
Naqvi concluded by calling on international bodies and regional stakeholders to recognize Pakistanโs right to self-defense and urged Afghanistan to ensure that its soil is not used as a base for hostile activities against Pakistan.
The statement comes amid rising tensions along the Pak-Afghan border, where recent unprovoked attacks by Afghan forces have led to retaliatory measures by the Pakistan Army, resulting in significant losses for the aggressors.
