The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has inaugurated Pakistan’s first-ever Women Registration Center (WRC) in Dera Ghazi Khan, South Punjab, aiming to provide a safe, respectful, and empowering environment for women accessing registration services.
Located at the Mall of DG Khan on Multan Road, the center allows women to obtain essential documents, including CNICs, family registration certificates, and child registration forms, without inconvenience or hesitation.
NADRA officials emphasized that these documents are more than mere papers, representing a woman’s financial independence, property rights, and political identity. The initiative is part of the authority’s broader effort to expand gender-sensitive services across Pakistan, ensuring that women can establish their legal identity with dignity and ease.
In addition to the WRC, NADRA has developed special software that identified over 250,000 fake CNICs, mostly issued to Afghan nationals. The fraudulent IDs were reportedly obtained through agents and added to Pakistani family trees. Authorities have begun blocking these fake CNICs, requiring individuals to visit NADRA offices for verification and reactivation of legitimate cards.
To further facilitate citizens, NADRA has introduced online CNIC applications through the Pak ID website and mobile app, allowing cards to be processed and delivered directly to applicants’ homes. This digital service reduces the need for repeated visits to offices and long waiting times.
The government has also announced that first-time CNIC applicants aged 18 and above can now receive their card free of cost within 15 days. Meanwhile, renewal fees have been updated, with normal processing at Rs 400, urgent at Rs 1,150, and executive service at Rs 2,150 during October.
Through these initiatives, NADRA continues to modernize registration services, enhance accessibility, and strengthen the security and reliability of identity verification, while actively promoting inclusivity and empowering women in Pakistan.
