ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced new facilities for senior citizens across Pakistan. The announcement came on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, reaffirming NADRA’s commitment to supporting elderly citizens.
Wheelchairs and Priority Service at NADRA Centers
From now on, senior citizens visiting NADRA offices for ID cards or related documents will be provided wheelchairs. Additionally, they will receive priority service immediately after obtaining their service token, ensuring they do not wait in long queues.
Lifetime CNIC at Age 55
Previously, citizens became eligible for a lifetime-valid Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) at age 60. However, under the revised policy, lifetime CNICs will now be available from the age of 55, offering greater convenience to elderly citizens.
Home Service for Ill Senior Citizens
For those unable to visit NADRA offices due to illness, the authority will now send its representatives to their homes. This service will allow elderly applicants to complete ID card and registration processes without the need to travel.
Digital Access Through Pak ID App
To minimize travel and waiting, seniors or their children can use the Pak ID mobile app. The app offers services including card renewal, replacement of lost ID cards, modification of information, and issuance of Family Registration Certificates from home.
Facial Recognition for Easier Verification
In case fingerprints pose challenges during verification, NADRA has now introduced facial recognition technology. Senior citizens will be able to confirm their identity using facial photographs, simplifying the process.
Proof of Life Certificate for Pensioners
NADRA also announced an upcoming facility for pensioners. Through the Pak ID app, senior pensioners will soon be able to generate a digital “Proof of Life” certificate required for pension disbursement.
