ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued a clarification regarding the ‘B’ form registration process, reassuring the public that previously issued ‘B’ forms remain valid and have not been cancelled.
In an official social media post, NADRA stated that parents of children who already possess a ‘B’ form and need to apply for a passport, or those aged 10 to 18 applying for a ‘B’ form for the first time, should visit their nearest NADRA centre with the child.
Alternatively, parents can submit applications using NADRA’s Pak-ID mobile app for convenience. NADRA emphasized that rumours about the cancellation of existing ‘B’ forms are baseless and urged citizens to rely on their official channels for accurate updates.
Family Registration Certificate (FRC)
NADRA also highlighted the importance of the Family Registration Certificate (FRC), which is a key document for verifying an individual’s family composition. The FRC is essential for various purposes both in Pakistan and abroad:
Uses in Pakistan:
- Government Jobs: Required for certain job applications.
- Educational Admissions: Necessary for enrolling children in schools and universities.
- Legal Matters: Used in family-related legal proceedings.
- Welfare Programs: Required to avail government welfare schemes.
Uses Abroad:
- Visa Applications: To confirm family relationships.
- Immigration: Helps verify family ties during immigration processes.
- Embassy Services: Required for consular services provided by Pakistani missions.
- International Admissions: Needed for enrolling children in overseas educational institutions.
Types of FRC:
- By Birth: Lists family details, including parents and siblings.
- By Marriage: Includes the spouse and children.
- By Adoption: Details the guardian.
It is important to note that individuals not registered with NADRA or without a 13-digit Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) number will not have their data included in the FRC. Applicants who are minors should first apply for a CNIC or a ‘B’ form.
How to Apply:
Citizens can apply for an FRC by visiting their nearest NADRA Registration Centre (NRC) or through the Pak-Identity website. Overseas Pakistanis can obtain the FRC from the relevant mission offices abroad.
Fee Structure:
The fee for FRC issuance remains fixed at Rs1,000 for both normal and executive categories, effective February 2025.
NADRA continues to improve its services, ensuring accessibility and ease for citizens at home and abroad.
