ISLAMABAD: A renowned Pakistani actress and former TV Host,ย Nadia Jamil, has sparked widespread debate after highlighting the growing epidemic of child prostitution in Pakistan. Why does public debate often focus on LGBTQ issues while the sexual exploitation of minors remains widely ignored? Nadia highlighted this social dilemma in a video message that went viral on social media and caught public attention.
Jamil Addresses Stark Realities of Child Abuse Nationwide
Nadia Jamil addressed a group of young girls and highlighted the harsh realities of child abuse across Pakistan. She said the exploitation of minors occurs in homes, schools, and workplaces, but few people show willingness to speak out. She stressed that children continue to suffer due to societyโs silence and lack of meaningful action.
Investigations Reveal Shocking Evidence of Child Exploitation
Jamil cited a journalistโs recent investigation in Lahore and other cities. Hidden camera footage from nine child prostitution dens reportedly showed minors aged 7 to 16 being exploited. Jamil said she felt โheartbrokenโ after watching the videos. She added that the footage revealed systemic failures to protect vulnerable children from predators.
Abuse Occurs Across Multiple Sectors and Locations
Jamil emphasized that child exploitation extends far beyond the identified dens. She said minors face abuse in truck depots, where children are forced into sexual exploitation. She added that boys working in coal mines and factories suffer abuse from multiple men. She further noted that schools and homes also remain unsafe for many children, despite public assumptions of security.
Children See Abuse as an Inevitable Part of Life
She explained that many exploited children see no alternative to their circumstances. She shared examples of boys in truck depots and mines who believe abuse is a normal part of their lives. She said this mindset reflects deep-rooted neglect and widespread societal failure.
Public Focus Criticized for Ignoring Child Protection
Becoming emotional, Jamil questioned societyโs selective outrage. She said many people raise their voices on LGBTQ issues while ignoring the severe abuse of minors. She argued that child exploitation has been normalized in many communities. She asked why society feels compelled to discuss other issues yet remains silent about the suffering of children.
Call for Awareness and Immediate Action
Meanwhile, she said Pakistan sould tackle this dilemma seriosuly. Nadia urged citizens, institutions, and leaders to acknowledge the social problem and take meaningful action to replace silence to protect children from further sexual abuse.
