Karachi: The decomposed body of a woman, believed to be model and actress Humaira Asghar, was discovered inside a flat in the Ittehad Commercial area of DHA Phase 6, Karachi, police confirmed on Tuesday.
The woman had been living alone in the apartment for seven years after renting it in 2018. However, she reportedly stopped paying rent in 2024, prompting the landlord to file an eviction case with the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC).
On Tuesday, a court-appointed bailiff arrived to execute the eviction order and found the body inside the flat. Rescue teams moved the remains to Jinnah Hospital for postmortem examination. Authorities estimate the woman’s age to be between 30 and 35 years.
Residents identified the deceased as Humaira Asghar, though visual confirmation was impossible due to decomposition. The SSP South stated that DNA testing is underway to confirm her identity, as no relatives have come forward.
Preliminary investigations suggest natural causes, with no immediate signs of foul play. The flat has been sealed pending further forensic analysis.
Police recovered a mobile phone registered to Humaira Asghar and a magazine featuring her photographs from the apartment. The actress’s national identity card was also found, helping confirm her identity.
The case arose from a landlord-tenant dispute after the actress stopped paying rent. Upon executing the eviction order, the bailiff discovered the body, resealed the property, and referred the matter back to the court. Police await further judicial instructions expected soon.
