The body of Waqas Ahmed, a Grade-19 officer with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), has been found under mysterious circumstances in a guest house located in Islamabad’s G-6/4 sector.
Islamabad police reported that the room where his body was discovered was locked from the inside. Initial investigations revealed no visible signs of violence or injury on his body. The remains have been sent to Polyclinic Hospital for a thorough post-mortem examination.
Sources confirmed that Waqas Ahmed, who hailed from Lahore, had previously served as an investigating officer in the OGRA case. His involvement in significant investigations, including the Steel Mills scandal and the arrest of former OGRA chairman Tauqeer Sadiq, made him a prominent figure within NAB. At the time of his death, he was serving as an Additional Director at NAB’s headquarters.
Authorities are exploring various possibilities surrounding his sudden and unexplained death. Police officials have stated that the cause of death will only be clarified after the post-mortem report is received. Investigations are still ongoing.
