MURREE: The City Traffic Police in Murree have launched a free vehicle recovery service to assist residents and tourists during emergencies, aiming to improve traffic management and ensure road safety across the hill station.
The initiative is introduced under the special instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Authorities have deployed modern recovery vehicles to provide prompt assistance to motorists whose vehicles break down or face accidents anywhere in Murree and the surrounding areas.
A City Traffic Police spokesperson confirmed that the service is fully free of charge.
Assistance for stranded motorists
Chief Traffic Officer Murree Imran Razaq explained that traffic police recovery vehicles will transport disabled or accident-damaged vehicles to the nearest workshop. This measure is intended to prevent congestion on Murreeโs busy roads and maintain smooth traffic flow.
Razaq cited a recent case in which a tourist from Lahore encountered car trouble on Bariyan Road while returning from Ayubia. The motorist contacted the traffic control room, prompting a traffic sergeant to reach the location and arrange a recovery vehicle.
The police team successfully transported the vehicle to a nearby workshop, ensuring the safety of both the driver and other road users.
Authorities said the service reflects the city traffic policeโs commitment to providing timely support and enhancing overall traffic management, particularly during the tourist season when Murreeโs roads often face heavy congestion. The initiative also emphasizes public safety and rapid response in emergency situations, benefiting both locals and visitors.
