ABBOTTABAD: The initial investigations of police indicated that millions of rupees in gold and greed of the friend of Dr. Wardah, led to the murder. On Tuesday, scores of doctors protested in Abbottabad against the gruesome murder of Dr. Wardah Mushtaq. The protesting doctors demanded strict action against the killers of Dr. Wardah and asked the provincial government to protect doctors.
A major protest erupted in Abbottabad on Tuesday, a day after police recovered the body of a missing female doctor. The protest brought the city’s main traffic flow to a standstill.
Body of Missing Doctor Found in Thandiani
Police found Dr Wardah’s body in the Thandiani forest four days after she disappeared. Officials located the site using information provided by a female suspect. Police stated that the suspect handed Dr. Wardah over to contract killers. Officers arrested one man based on the suspect’s identification. However, the main accused remains at large. The case has raised serious concerns about safety and law enforcement efficiency.
Protesters Block Major Routes
Enraged doctors staged a powerful demonstration outside the hospital. They locked the gates and halted all movement inside the facility. Protesters then moved to the Silk Road, also known as Shahrah-e-Resham. They blocked the highway completely and created severe traffic disruptions. Commuters faced long delays as the protest intensified. The agitation later expanded to Fawara Chowk, where protesters blocked the Karakoram Highway as well.
Doctors Accuse Police of Negligence
Protesters chanted slogans against the police and district administration. They accused authorities of criminal negligence and incompetence. They claimed that the police responded slowly to the doctor’s disappearance. They argued that this delay contributed to the tragic outcome. The anger remained high throughout the day as demonstrations continued. Medical staff demanded swift arrests and a transparent investigation.
Financial Dispute Emerges in Case Details
Initial reports suggest a financial dispute between Dr Wardah and her friend Rida. Dr Wardah reportedly entrusted 67 tolas of gold to her friend. She left the hospital with Rida to recover the gold. She went missing soon after that meeting. Police believe the dispute may have played a key role in the crime. The investigation continues as officers search for the main suspect.
