YouTube star Rachel Accurso, also known as Ms Rachel, highlighted the messages of children from Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo at the Emmy Awards. She wore a dress with detailed embroidery featuring messages from 11 children and carried their pictures. By doing so, she drew attention to their dreams and urged others to help.
Children’s Dreams Take Center Stage
Masajid, a young girl from Sudan, wanted to become an engineer to rebuild her country. Zahraa, seated beside her, hoped to become a doctor to care for people in need. From the DRC, Saidati aspired to become a teacher like Ms Rachel, while Solange wanted to help others just as he has been inspired by them. Through these messages, Ms Rachel reminded the world of the courage and hope of children living in conflict zones.
Advocating for Children Worldwide
Ms Rachel has consistently used her platform to support children in war-torn regions. Recently, she urged global leaders to act after a US-Israeli airstrike in Minab, Iran, killed 175 people, including children. She has also advocated for kids in Gaza, Ukraine, and Sudan.
Through her efforts, Ms Rachel continues to humanize the struggles of children while inspiring action and hope around the world.
