Unnamed AFB (United Kingdom): More A-10 ground attack jets arrived at an unnamed air base in United Kingdom for onward deployment, most probably at Muafiq Air base in Jordan for possible deployment against Iran; in case the ground offensive is inevitable.
The jets recently have been deployed against the Iranian backed units of Popular Mobilization Forces(PMU) and Kataib Hezbollah in Iraq. The jets designed for close support missions, flies at less then the speed of sound and its main armament are the front 20/30 mm canons as well as rocket pods on its wings. The jet belonging to the generation of F-86 Sabre and Mikoyan Mig-19 vintage ground attacks jets were developed in 1970 and after a series of prototypes were inducted into the USAF.
They saw extensive action in Iraq in 2003 against the Iraqi army concentrations and proved to be effective. Given a high degree of probability that the ground offensive involving Marine Units and the much talked about 82nd Air Borne will be deployed on the Iranian mainland, Kharg island or somewhere along the strait, the referred to jets are likely to be more suited for that type of terrain warfare than the F-18, F-16 or F-35 jets. The slow cruising speed of these jets makes it a practical choice for strafing the IRGC or Baseej units inside Iran or in the adjoining war theatres.
