The Balochistan government has announced a complete suspension of mobile internet services across all 36 districts until November 16, citing heightened security concerns. The move aims to maintain law and order amid ongoing threats, according to the provincial home department.
Officials stated that while the entire province will face connectivity restrictions, Quetta district will remain exempt. However, several residents in the capital city complained about signal disruptions, reporting difficulty in accessing mobile networks and online services.
The decision follows a recent pattern of short-term internet outages in Balochistan, reflecting persistent instability in the province’s security environment.
Travel Restrictions Enforced on National Highway N-70
In addition to the communication blackout, the provincial government has temporarily suspended transport services along the Loralai section of National Highway N-70 until November 14. The ban affects both public and private vehicles, including taxis and intercity buses.
Authorities clarified that the restriction does not apply to local or intra-city travel, allowing residents to move within their areas for essential needs. Travelers have been advised to review official advisories before undertaking any journey on restricted routes to avoid inconvenience.
District administrations and police have been directed to implement the suspension strictly and ensure alternative arrangements to minimize public disruption.
Schools Closed in Quetta Cantonment Due to Security Concerns
Educational institutions in Quetta Cantonment were also closed from November 12 to 16 as part of broader security measures. Officials confirmed that all schools and colleges in the area would remain shut during this period. However, several government-run schools outside the cantonment area continued to operate normally.
This follows an earlier 24-hour internet blackout in Quetta on October 31, which was similarly imposed to address rising security risks.

Security conditions in Balochistan have deteriorated in recent months, with insurgent activity increasing in both frequency and intensity. Militants operating in the province have been responsible for a series of attacks targeting security forces and infrastructure.
