Casualties reported after intercepted missile incident in UAE
Abu Dhabi: Authorities in Abu Dhabi confirmed that two people died after debris from an intercepted missile struck Sweihan Road on Thursday. Officials added that three others sustained injuries, while several vehicles suffered damage in the incident.
According to the emirateโs media office, air defense systems intercepted the missile before impact; however, falling debris caused casualties on the ground. Emergency teams quickly responded, secured the area, and transported the injured to nearby hospitals.
Meanwhile, officials urged residents to follow safety instructions and remain alert as regional tensions continue to escalate. The incident highlights the growing risks posed by aerial interceptions in populated areas, even when defense systems successfully neutralize incoming threats.
Kuwait and Saudi Arabia report drone and missile attacks
Earlier in the day, Kuwait reported attacks involving both missiles and drones, according to a statement from its Army General Staff Headquarters. The announcement, shared on X, confirmed that Iranian forces carried out the strikes.
Subsequently, Kuwaitโs Foreign Affairs Ministry welcomed a decision by the Human Rights Council addressing the human rights implications of Iranian attacks on Gulf states. Officials said the resolution reflects strong international condemnation of what they described as Iranโs aggressive actions.
At the same time, Saudi Arabia also faced multiple aerial threats overnight. State media outlet Al Hadath reported that eight unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iran targeted the kingdom, although authorities did not immediately confirm damage or casualties.
Consequently, Gulf countries remain on high alert as cross-border attacks intensify, raising concerns about broader regional instability.
