Microsoft has resolved a significant outage affecting Outlook services for thousands of users on March 1. The company confirmed that “a majority” of the impacted services have now been restored.
The issue, which affected users across various Microsoft 365 services, was first reported around 8:40 pm on March 1, according to Downdetector’s service status website. By 9:15 pm, Microsoft had received over 9,000 outage reports, with users in London and Manchester experiencing the most disruptions. Nearly half of the reports indicated login issues.
In an update on X (formerly Twitter), Microsoft stated, “Our telemetry indicates that a majority of impacted services are recovering following our change. We’ll continue to monitor until all services are fully restored.”
The company identified a potential cause of the outage around 10 pm, traced to a problematic code change. After reverting the change, Microsoft monitored the service and worked with affected users to ensure full restoration.
